Kaya Retreats is launching a new Holistic Healing and Wellness Center and we are building our schedules and team of instructors.  The mission of our organization is to bring light and wellness into a struggling community.  We are seeking an enthusiastic Yoga Instructor with strong entrepreneurial qualities to help build our Fitness Program. Welcoming all styles of yoga instructors needed to teach small to large classes in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Comply with all Group Fitness and related Company and Client policies and procedures as outlined in the Team Member Manual.
  2. Greet members and guests as they enter the Fitness Center using a personalized approach and demonstration of P.R.I.D.E (Personal Responsibility in a Desirable Environment) to determine nature and purpose of visit, and direct or escort them to specific destinations.
  3. Respond to member/guest suggestions, concerns, and complaints in a timely, professional, and consistent manner while providing excellent customer service.
  4. Take ownership of challenges by finding the appropriate team member who can directly assist, if unable to provide efficient support to clients.
  5. Activate emergency action plans and administer first aid, as necessary.
  6. Provide world-class customer service with ongoing observation and interpersonal feedback of corrective measures and proper breathing techniques during class participation.
  7. Instruct clients on techniques to maintaining exertion levels to maximize health and motivational benefits from exercise routines.
  8. Have a passion for client results by offering alternative movements during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness.
  9. Instruct with a variety of teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles.
  10. Plan various engaging routines, music, and movements depending upon type of class to balance healthcare with fun and motivating programs.
  11. Teach assigned classes on time and take ownership for covering classes with an appropriate substitute when absent.
  12. Prepare fitness space for the class and restore space to its original state after teaching to maintain a nice working environment.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Current nationally recognized Group Fitness Certification or specialty class certificate, specialty class license (i.e. Zumba®, etc.) and current CPR /AED certification. Prior experience in Group Fitness, Personal Training, Corporate Health Promotion, Wellness, etc.  Must be knowledgeable about the industry with the customer skills to network, engage, and interact with all clients, guests, and participants with P.R.I.D.E. Must communicate professionally using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and relay information to and from clients/guests. Ability to effectively engage participants as a public speaker. Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s Degree in Dance, Exercise Science or similar background. Minimum of one year of experience teaching group fitness or related content. Current nationally NCCA Personal Training certification or Group training relation certification. Prior teaching experience in a corporate setting/background.

Must have proper current liability insurance.

MUST BE AVAILABLE TO TEACH 2 WEEKNIGHTS PER WEEK 7PM-8PM and/or WEEKDAYS MORNING CLASS 9AM – 10AM to start.

Tai Chi Instructors are expected to teach safe and effective classes for our members.  Must have teaching experience.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • National certification (ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NETA) in group fitness instruction.
  • Certification in nationally recognized Tai Chi certifications, such as ATCQA (American Tai chi & Qigong Assoc.) (CEUs are at the expense of the Instructor).
  • At least one year of experience teaching Tai Chi classes preferred. -->Successful completion of background  LIACPR/AED Certification Required within 30 days of hire.   Physical and Working Conditions

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to conduct classes and activities.
  • Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position; including leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, squatting and lifting.
  • Ability to take the responsibility for the health and safety of others.
  • Fitness club environment.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Must follow OSHA and KRHWC Wellness safety standards
  • Competent with Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
